'After-Match Party Lasted Till 5 AM': RCB's Celebration After Beating CSK Must Have Been Epic!
Yash Dayal's father, Chanderpal, a former club-level cricketer, revealed that RCB's after-match party after beating CSK was extended until 5 AM the next morning.

As much as RCB’s march towards the IPL 2024 playoffs is about their stunning reversal of fortunes, which saw them win six consecutive matches to book themselves the final IPL 2024 Playoff, their final victory against CSK, which ensured them the top four finish, was all about how RCB players went out celebrating the victory—to the extent that MS Dhoni walked off without even shaking hands with the RCB players.

For the RCB camp (fans and players alike), it was a sweet victory, and their extended celebration in the middle was well deserved, while for CSK fans, it was a matter of disrespecting their’ Thala’. However, the real reason Dhoni walked off the field after leading most of the squad members to the middle for the customary handshake will remain a mystery as long as the great man himself reveals why he did what he did.

Nonetheless, it was a memorable victory for RCB and more so for Yash Dayal, who bowled the final over and denied Dhoni. Dayal was, first, butt of all jokes when in the 2023 IPL season, KKR’s Rinku Singh had smashed his UP teammate for five sixes in the final over to help his team script the greatest heist in franchise league cricket and later brutally and unfairly trolled when bought by RCB. But Dayal set aside the demons of the past to hold his nerve in the final over vs CSK and helped his team reach the IPL playoffs.

Dayal’s father, Chanderpal, revealed how Dayal kept his composure after Dhoni hit him for a monstrous 110m six in the first delivery of the over.

“Everyone witnessed what he did for RCB on that day against the world’s best finishers – Dhoni and Jadeja. After Dhoni hit him for the longest six of the season on the first ball, the bad memories of last year (being hit for five consecutive sixes by Rinku Singh in an over) haunted us, but he kept his calm and made a comeback by taking Dhoni’s wicket. He conceded one run in the last four balls,” Chandarpal Dayal told IANS on Tuesday.

That Rinku Singh over not only Dayal but also his family. Dayal’s father said that when Dhoni hit that six, the memories of the previous came back, but it was a relief to see Dayal come out on the other side this time.

“It was a proud moment for us and gave us a huge relief as we were carrying the burden of last year’s incident. All the pressure was released from us after the win. I’ve huge confidence in my son’s ability as he has worked hard on his bowling, especially on slower ones,” he added.

Chanderpal, himself a former club-level cricketer, also revealed that RCB’s after-match party after beating CSK was extended until 5 AM the next morning.

“Yash told his mother that the after-match party lasted till 5 AM (after beating CSK). He was so happy. Also, he said that when he got hit for a six in the first ball by Dhoni, he controlled himself to focus on bowling, not thinking about who was there on the crease, whether it was Dhoni or Jadeja,” he said.

Yash, who made his IPL debut in 2022 with Gujarat Titans, is having the best season of his career. This season, he is the highest wicket-taker for RCB, with 15 wickets in 13 matches. Ahead of the season, RCB picked the pacer for Rs five crore and gave him consistent chances.
