Verdict on Tiger's men on Sept 25
A TADA court is to deliver its verdict on the involvement of close aides of Tiger Memon in the '93 blasts on Monday

Mumbai: A TADA court is slated to deliver its verdict on the alleged involvement of close aides of prime conspirator Tiger Memon - Mohammed Iqbal Shaikh and Nasim Barmare - in the 1993 bomb blast case on Monday.

Shaikh is facing the charge of parking an RDX laden scooter at Naigaum in Dadar which did not explode on March 12, 1993.

He is also facing the charge of throwing hand grenades along with co-accused Nasim Barmare at Bay 54 in the international airport, where workers were engaged in service and aeroplanes were parked. However, no one was injured.

Shaikh is also charged with conspiracy, obtaining weapons training at Borghat and Sandheri in Raigad district, attending conspiracy meetings at the residences of co-accused Babloo and Mubina and filling RDX in vehicles in the garages of Tiger Memon on the eve of the serial blasts.

Both accused had gone to Sahar international airport on a scooter registered in the name of Tiger Memon's father Abdul Razak Memon. Shaikh was driving while Nasim on the pillion seat threw hand grenades from the flyover at Bay number 54 of the airport.

However, the hand grenades did not explode and there was no loss of lives or damage to property.

Shaikh and Barmare are charged under provisions of TADA (P) Act, IPC, Explosives Substances Act, Explosives Act, Prevention of damage to public property act.

Eleven accused have been convicted so far in the case. They are Yakub Memon, Essa Memon, Yusuf Memon, Rubeena Memon, Mohammed Shoib Ghansar, Asgar Mukadam, Abdul Gani Turk, Shahnawaz Qureshi, Parvez Shaikh, Mohammed Dawood Phanse alias Dawood Taklya and Sharif Abdul Gafoor Parkar alias Dadabhai.

Three others - Suleiman Memon, Hanifa Memon and Rahin Memon - have been given the benefit of doubt. The case against Abdul Razak Memon, father of absconding prime acccused Tiger Memon, has been abated as he passed away during the trial.

Of the 123 accused, 94, including film actor Sanjay Dutt, are on bail and have been exempted from personal appearance until further orders by designated judge P D Kode.
