Neeta Lulla, who entered the fashion industry more than two decades ago, is a name to reckon with in today’s glamour and modelling industry. Her designs have not only been recognized in India but have also been acclaimed globally.

After having conquered Bollywood, she has successfully slipped into an entrepreneurial role.  Neeta Lulla will present a collection titled Radha at the Lakme Fashion Week winter-festive 2012 and clarifies that it is not traditional.

“I have used appliqué done with Banarasi brocades and Kanjeevarams on silks organzas and net,” says Neeta Lulla, the czarina of Indian fashion.  “The name of my collection is Radha, the epitome of beauty and romance.  It is colourful. There are worshipers of Radha everywhere. it’s not very traditional.

We can see the designs culminating from Rajasthan going up to even London, Paris, New York and everywhere,” says Lulla, a perfectionist, who hates to miss even minute details while designing her creations.

“Together with Forever Jewellery we have created a stunning collection that draws inspiration from the many moods and avatars of Radha.

There are beautiful pieces of vintage jewellery that have been designed and have been specially crafted by Forever Jewellery to match and compliment the essence of the garments,” says Lulla adding, “This time my collection is actually all over the place because it’s a beautiful and colourful line, so the treatment of gold and use of jewelleries will be the focus. ” “The jewellery weaves in perfectly with the outfits to depict the many facets of Radha.

Pure 22 carat gold mimics Radha’s creamy sandalwood-like complexion, pink tourmalines nestled in glistening kundan blush like Radha as they flirt with vivid meenakari.

A feisty fusion of jadau, luxuriant emeralds and voluptuous pearls show off her inimitable glamour quotient.

Prussian blue meenakari with peacock motifs inspired by Radha’s Krishna as well as kangans, haath paunchas and baju bandhs adorned with uncut diamonds and precious stones set in classic floral patterns are also seen in the collection,” adds Lulla.

Talking about fashion she says, “Fashion for me is a lifelong pursuit of excellence, an honest endeavor to interpret the mysticism that lies beneath the woven thread.

It’s a buffet of trends in a season that can help you create a style statement that you are comfortable with.

Collaborating with other players in the fashion industry such as I have done with Forever Jewellery for my collection at Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012 is a great opportunity to combine styles that ride on the same concept and values,” says Neeta Lulla, diva of fashion designing.

Talking about the chemistry she shares with her daughter Nishka, who is also into the design world, Neeta says, “Nishka has a completely different agenda and style. Friends as to describe it in one word, although she says cat and mouse.
