BANGALORE: “I am an apolitical person and I write objectively. The issues relating to politics in Assam and other North Eastern parts of the country must be addressed with unity and democracy,” Senior Journalist M S Prabhakara observed.  He was speaking at the launch of his new book ‘Looking Back into the Future: Identity & Insurgency in North East India’  published by Routledge India Originals  at British Council on Wednesday.Mentioning that he was not for splintered identity of politics, he stated, “Only democratic struggle can sustain India’s plurality. India’s stand on some contentious issues has led to turmoil in states like Assam and Manipur”.C Rammonohar Reddy, Editor, Economic and Political Weekly, Mumbai, said, “Prabhakara’s writing is based on his experiences and he is the first North East correspondent of a national newspaper. He has been engaged in writing for more than four decades and  engaged himself in the questions pertaining to physical boundaries, the inhabitants, language which together create a political atmosphere”.Playwright Girish Karnad who released the book said “It was only through the writings of Prabhakara, our country becomes conscious of North East India”.Writers U R Ananthamurthy, K Marulasiddappa, Historican S Settar, Senior Journalist Parvathi Menon and others were present.
