WATCH: Rinku Singh Bows Down to the Magic of Mentor Gautam Gambhir After KKR Clinch the IPL 2024 Title

As the celebrations were underway after Kolkata Knight Riders managed to get their hands on the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League trophy, Rinku Singh made a very respectful gesture towards the KKR mentor and former skipper, Gautam Gambhir.

The two were part of the KKR team that were out on the ground after securing the title and the current Indian international was seen bowing down in respect of his mentor who seemingly turned the side’s fortunes upside down.

It has not been an easy right for KKR as they suffered 10 years without the title, with their last one coming under Gambhir’s captaincy back in 2014. But now coming in as a mentor, he has turned the side’s fortunes and they are now back at the top as the champions.

Gambhir was part of the decision-making team that led to Sunil Narine being sent at the top of the order and that move turned out to be a master-stroke as the former West Indies international registered his best season’s tally with the bat with 488 runs for the season and also contributed with the ball picking up 17 wickets in the season.

The former Indian opener also backed the under-fire Mitchell Starc with talks floating about regarding him not living up to the record price tag, his backing turned out to be the right call as the Australian international came through in the playoff stages of the tournament and most importantly delivered in the final picking up two big wickets in the powerplay to set the tone from ball one.

The KKR franchise will forever be indebted to Gambhir for his contributions and will hope that he will continue his role with the franchise but reports have suggested that he could take up the soon-to-be vacant role as head coach of the Indian Cricket Team, taking over from Rahul Dravid but his final decision is yet to be made.
