'Set Batsman Ko Bewakoof...': Axar Patel Bamboozles Phil Salt With Terrific Delivery Ahead of World Cup Squad Announcement
Axar Patel is among the leading contenders to make it to the India T20 World Cup squad.

Delhi Capitals allrounder Axar Patel unleashed an absolute ripper to get the better of an on-song Philip Salt in the away IPL 2024 clash against Kolkata Knight Riders on Monday.

Axar was praised for his terrific delivery.

Salt, who has been in scintillating form in this Indian Premier League (IPL), notched up his fourth half-century of the season in the home game at Eden Gardens. The English opener had scored 68 runs off 32 deliveries before surrendering to Axar.

The superb arm-ball led the 30-year-old being compared with Indian spin legends Srinivasaraghavan Venkataraghavan and Bishan Singh Bedi.

After the contest, Navjot Singh Sidhu, who has been on the official commentary panel of this IPL, spoke about Salt’s wicket during the post-match analysis.

The cricketer-turned-pundit hailed Axar Patel for maintaining his line and length at a “bullet-like” speed.

Navjot underlined Salt’s form in this IPL, saying it was not easy to bamboozle a batter, who has been in sublime touch.

“This came at the speed of a bullet. To outfox a batsman who was playing like this, sending him back, Axar, wah! That’s why Axar Patel is selected again and again in the Indian team. I got to see such bowling after a long time,” the former Indian cricketer said.

The bowling performance of Axar was the only positive DC could take away from the Kolkata fixture. The Rishabh Pant-led side faced a batting collapse after opting to bat furst.

They managed to post 153 runs on the board, losing nine wickets in 20 overs. Interestingly, Kuldeep Yadav was the top-performing batter for the visitors.

He scored an unbeaten 35, helping DC breach the 150-run mark.

After Salt’s blazing start, KKR lost the wickets of Rinku Singh and Sunil Narine in quick succession. That’s when Shreyas Iyer and Venkatesh Iyer took over the charge. The duo combined for a 57-run stand as KKR reached the target at ease in 16.3 overs.
