In a grand revelation on the occasion of India’s 75th Republic Day, acclaimed filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane has announced his ambitious project, a film centred around one of the nation’s most daring naval operations titled The Trident. Produced by Nikhil Dwivedi, who is in talks to collaborate with IMAX as a partner, the movie is set to shed light on Operation Trident, a pivotal maritime warfare mission executed by the Indian Navy during the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971.

This historic operation witnessed a group of courageous naval men bombing the Karachi port under the leadership of Babrubhan Yadav and Admiral Nanda, altering the war’s course. While the details of the cast remain shrouded in secrecy, sources reveal that discussions with two superstar actors for the roles of Yadav and Nanda have reached fruition, with their consent secured.

Pre-production for The Trident is already underway, and the film is anticipated to commence filming by April 2024. The announcement has generated immense curiosity, as Motwane, known for his directorial brilliance with films like Udaan, Lootera, and Trapped, is expected to bring his unique storytelling flair to this high-stakes historical drama.

Born on December 6, 1976, Vikramaditya Motwane has established himself as a director and a successful producer, with films such as Queen and NH10 under his banner.
