Sakshi was an A-league television star and was a part of some of the biggest TV soaps like Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki, Devi, Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi, Balika Vadhu, and Bade Achhe Lagte Hai, establishing herself as a stalwart in the television industry. According to reports, Sakshi Tanwar never intended to pursue a career in acting. Her early aspirations leaned towards becoming an IAS officer. Her father was a retired CBI officer. Sakshi had always been a bright student. She graduated from Delhi and then started preparing for the Administrative Services exams, while also working as a sales trainee in a luxury hotel to make ends meet. Her journey into the entertainment world began when she applied for the presenter role in Doordarshan’s film-song-based programme Albela Sur Mela in 1998.

After working there for some years, she finally got a big break with the serial Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki. Sakshi had done a few films like O Re Manva and C Kkompany, Bawra Mann, but she came into the limelight with Dangal. The film also starred Aamir Khan in the lead, and it turned out to be one of the most successful films in Indian cinema. The film earned around Rs 1000 crore at the box office.

After the success of Dangal, she got a lot of offers, and she starred in many films like Mohalla Assi, Dial 100, and Samrat Prithviraj. In 2022, she did a series on Netflix called Mai: A Mother’s Rage, which received a great response as well.

Sakshi, now 50 years old, decided to remain unmarried by choice. She adopted a daughter at the age of 45 and embraced motherhood.
